Weekend Wrap Up: Upcoming Packs and Withdrawals
A lot happened in TopShot this last week. Let's cover what happened and what's to come in the future.
NBA Top Shot has been working hard to please its users.
Over the last week, thousands more were able to withdrawal - there were multiple pack drops, including the first-ever introduction of rebound packs, with more upcoming in the future - including another legendary drop and a Run it Back pack.
Baller Status will also be receiving an update in the near future.
Let’s review what happened this previous week and what’s to come to Top Shot soon enough.
Pack Drops
On Monday, April 12th, Holo Icon packs returned after two months of no legendary drops. Each pack contained: one legendary Moment, three rare Moments, and six Base Common Moments.
Only 2,423 got distributed, so don’t feel bad if you weren’t lucky enough to get your hands on the $999 pack. Two things, although, were different with this particular drop.
To get in the queue for the legendary drop, collectors had to meet certain restrictions. These restrictions were as follows:
The collector must have held at least 15 Moments OR
The collector must have had at least two rare Moments OR
The collector must have had at least one legendary Moment
Rebound packs were introduced, meaning, if you didn’t snag the 2,423 legendary packs distributed - you could stay in the queue, and the following 50,000 collectors in line would receive a Base pack when they hit their spot in line.
Expect more restrictions to be enhanced in the future, especially for drops listing as expensive as $999 a pop.
Also, a more attainable pack followed this drop, with Top Shot releasing the fourth edition of the Cool Cats packs on Thursday, April 15th.
Each Cool Cats pack has been worth $14, and this was no different, with each one coming with a guaranteed Cool Cats Moment and four other Base Moments. Ninety-two thousand packs were up for grabs.
Don’t worry either if you couldn’t afford the $999 legendary drop because there will be one more legendary pack for Season 2! Keep your eye when they release because they will be highly coveted, like always.
Future drops include:
A “50% chance” of a playoff-related legendary drop
A “50% chance” of a rookie-related legendary drop.
A Run it Back drop some time, but this will most likely come during the summer.
Withdrawals
So far, the biggest concern and outcry from collectors has been the ability, or the inability, to withdraw money from their Dapper accounts.
Currently 106, 792 collectors can withdraw, with plenty more on the way, per Top Shot.
With recent investments from stars such as Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant for up to $300 million, Dapper is hard at work to increase the number of account's abilities to withdraw money whenever they want.
Baller Status
Baller Status: for anyone who doesn’t know, are the points at the top right of the NBA Top Shot screen.
Baller Status has been deactivated for weeks now, but next week, it will reactivate. Plus, points earned while being disabled will be retroactively applied. Expect in the future for Baller Status points to be a requirement for drops such as legendary ones.
