The fourth edition of Cool Cats packs are here!
While the return will not net you a profit like the Holo packs released earlier this week, every pack will give back a respectable gain compared to the $14 pack price. Each Cool Cat moment will get minted at 20,000.
The five Cool Cats moments you can pack are in the thread below:
As well as the one Cool Cat moment you’re guaranteed in the pack: you get an additional four Base set moments.
Let’s analyze and break down the five Cool Cats moments you can get if you’re lucky enough to snag a pack.
Chris Paul
Chris Paul is a wizard with the basketball and the master of angles.
Paul is currently 6th all-time in career assists, soon to pass Magic Johnson, Mark Jackson, and Steve Nash. At worst, by the time he retires, he should be third on the all-time NBA assist chart only behind Jason Kidd and John Stockton. That’s quite a list.
Paul is a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he retires but still has plenty of gas left at the tank, even at age 35. On the season, Paul's averaging 16 points, five rebounds, and eight assists a game and was crowned to another all-star game, making it potentially his last ever.
In his moment against the Chicago Bulls, Paul drags two defenders with him rolling to the rim and drops off a sweet behind-the-back assist to the cutting Frank Kaminsky. It doesn’t hurt either that Paul finished the game with a 14 point-6 rebound- and 15 assist game in another Phoneix Suns win.
Obviously, the moment will be at its peak price a few days after it hits the market with the Cool Cats 4 challenge ongoing, where if you collect all moments, you receive a Russell Westbrook moment. But after the challenge ends, watch the price drop like every other Cool Cat moment we've seen so far.
Gordon Hayward
Gordon Hayward was having an all-star caliber-esque season; but just recently suffered an ankle injury that has kept him out two weeks, with a 4-week minimum return.
He’s had an awful, injury prolonged career. You can only feel bad for him at this point.
But with that said, Hayward is having his best season since being crowned an all-star back in his Utah Jazz days.
In a Charlotte Hornets loss, Hayward led the Hornets in scoring totaling 34 points in 37 minutes. In Hayward’s moment, he loses his defender with a gorgeous spin move in the pretty mint green Hornets jerseys.
In my opinion, this moment should go for more just for those awesome jerseys. All jokes aside, Hayward is a quality player, but really, those jerseys are clean.
Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday recently inked a 4-year extension with the Milwaukee Bucks for at least $134 million. This ties him to Milwaukee for a minimum of three years and potentially four if he decides to exercise his player option in the final year of his contract.
Holiday has been the missing piece the Bucks have been looking for to compliment star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton serving as another ball-handler and quality defender. Holiday prides himself on his defense, and although he is the point guard, he can switch one through four and lock down just about any player.
In a Bucks win against the Washington Wizards, Holiday catches a pass from Khris Middleton from the 3-point line, and casually flips in the reverse layup with Garrison Mathews draped over him.
With Holiday now finding a third home after stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans, he now has a chance at an NBA title, with the Nets and 76ers as the only two teams in the East standing in their way. If the Bucks go on a playoff run and - reach the finals - expect Holiday to play a pivotal role in every series.
Christian Wood
Christian Wood is on one of the most team-friendly contracts in the NBA for the Houston Rockets. Wood is putting up averages of 21 points and ten rebounds on a contract for less than $12 million a year.
Wood is the foundation of the Rockets.
If I were the Rockets, I’d look to sign him to a long-term extension soon as he’s just entering the prime of his career at 25, and the Rockets don’t want to lose another star. You don't want to disgruntle your stars: cough, cough, James Harden.
Sorry Rockets fans.
What I love about this moment is Kevin Porter Jr. tosses the lob to Wood, and Porter Jr. might be another long-term piece that compliments the Rockets and Wood perfectly, as he’s another young playmaker. Wood and KPJ might take the Rockets out of their rut sooner than later, but the Rockets are going to need to get them better help than the injury-prone John Wall.
This will only be Wood’s third moment in a Rockets uniform, as well.
Bogdan Bogdanović
Lastly, we’ve got Bogan Bogdanović, who’s been a major bright spot for the surging Atlanta Hawks of late.
Bogdanović decided to leave the Sacramento Kings after one of the most bizarre stories of the off-season. A failed trade agreed on between the Kings and Bucks was eventually canceled due to tampering rules. The Bucks got stripped of a second-round pick because of tampering. Bogdanović was blindsided by the Kings, because he never got a notification that he was on the trade block and traded in the first place. After this, he decided to sign with the Atlanta Hawks on a four-year $72 million extension.
The Hawks are currently 4th in the Eastern Conference, and this couldn’t have happened without Bogdanović’s superb bench play and ability to slot right into the starting lineup barring an injury.
In his moment, he hits Ty Jerome of the Oklahoma City Thunder with a nasty behind-the-back crossover shaking him free and drains the soft-touch floater over Al Horford. Again, with the Hawks primed to make the playoffs and them currently overperforming in the regular season - if the Hawks can get to the second round and upset a team like the 76ers, Bucks, or Nets, Bogdanović will be a key component to those wins.
