For the first time in over two months, legendary packs have finally returned to NBA Top Shot. This has been the most anticipated drop in Top Shot for the last two months, with some moments projected to range as high as $50,000.
All the HOLO (legendary) moments you can get are in a thread below posted by NBA Top Shot:
So what will happen to the market with the release of these packs, happening today at 4 pm ET?
What’s in the Pack?
In this legendary drop, the pack itself will cost $999 and will contain 1 HOLO moment (legendary), three MGLE moments (rare), with the lowest listing S2 MGLE moment going for a floor price of $205, and six base moments, where you can still have a chance at pulling rookies first points and much more!
Base Moments
Not only are legendary packs dropping today, but if you don’t get lucky at getting a HOLO pack (3% chance), 50,000 base packs will be releasing in the same queue. So don’t leave the line even if you don’t qualify for the legendary pack!
With the release of more Base moments, expect the prices for all 35k CC moments to continue to drop. With hundreds of thousands more moments hitting the market, this should mean a drop in prices. Not only are Base moments just in the 50,000 packs after the legendary pack, but six base moments also come in the HOLO pack.
The lowest S2 Base Common moments are at the floor of $5 and $6, so we might hit a floor of $3 moments as we did in January. Don't pass up the opportunity of getting these moments before they turn limited edition.
MGLE Moments
With MGLE moments already on the marketplace, expect most to take a dip in price. More volume equals a price decrease. MGLE’s have a maximum mint cap of 499 minted, so these are still mega rare and valuable moments to own.
Most MGLE moments in this drop, though, are new moments, so with them hitting the marketplace will drop former moments. Some of these new MGLE moments releasing, like Kemba Walker, Patrick Williams, and Killian Hayes, will go for a pretty penny.
HOLO Moments
Considering all of these moments will be new, never-before-seen moments on the website before, with mint caps at 99, the minimum projection for any legendary is $2,000.
LeBron James tops off the list with a vicious slam against the Denver Nuggets, where he splits the defense with nobody daring to get in his path. Once this moment hits the marketplace, expect the moment to sell for a minimum of $50,000.
Some of my next favorite legendary moments releasing in this drop are:
Anthony Edwards throwing down the sledgehammer dunk against the Orlando Magic (expected to be around $20,000)
Terry Roziers game-winner against the Golden State Warriors with the shot clock hitting double zeros (expected to be $2,000)
John Wall throwing down a dunk against the Washington Wizards, his former team (expected to be $3,000)
Domantas Sabonis rumbling to the rim for a game-winner (expected to be $4,000)
Kyrie Irving putting in a ridiculous reverse layup (expected to be $6,500)
All of these valuations are per @OwnTheMomentNFT on Twitter.
It’s safe to say, if you get a pack, you’re due for an instant payday and can pull some life-changing moments.
These moments shouldn’t affect the marketplace at all - but instead - should add some expensive and rare moments to the fast-growing list. The only way the market could be affected is if users start to sell most of their moments to reach up for these uber-rare moments. In that case, we could see a dip in certain moments, but these legendaries will remain pretty stagnant in price after hitting the marketplace because of how valuable they are and the low mint cap per moment.
